Laser Weld Monitoring

Laser weld monitoring works by detecting and recording a thermal signal from the area of laser interaction and providing an output waveform around which limits can be set.  Once limits are determined, the unit compares  new weld waveforms in real time to identify good or bad welds. Laser weld monitors are capable of precision monitoring of both continuous wave (CW) and pulsed laser processes.

Why Monitor?

mm-l400
  • Identify process trends
  • Improve quality by ensuring process stability
  • Identify ideal parameters and control limits for successful laser welding
  • Detect drifts in the weld process
  • Independent, external process monitoring
  • Collect process data
