What is CCPA?
The California Consumer and Privacy Act (CCPA) with an effective date of January 1, 2020 provides California residents notice, access, and control of their personal information. CCPA provides California residents the right to request a business to disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information that it collects about the resident, the categories of sources from which that information is collected, the business purposes for collecting or selling the information, and the categories of third parties with which the information is shared. How does CCPA Impact Amada Weld Tech Customers?
Amada Weld Tech’s service and product offerings are primarily business to business (B2B) but in some cases may be with an individual. The Legislature added a B2B exemption in the CCPA law for one year. However, this exemption does not apply to the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information, the obligation not to discriminate against a consumer for attempting to exercise other rights, or the private right of action in the event of a data breach. While Amada Weld Tech does not sell business contact information as defined by CCPA, we are actively monitoring the law, reviewing potential changes, and working diligently to prepare and comply.
