AMADA WELD TECH traces its roots to 1948, when Unitek Corporation was founded in Pasadena, California, to manufacture innovative orthodontic appliances. Building on technology originally developed at the University of Southern California, the company quickly earned a reputation for precision engineering and manufacturing excellence. As demand grew, Unitek pioneered new fabrication methods that transformed orthodontic production while laying the foundation for decades of technological innovation.
Recognizing that the same precision joining techniques had applications far beyond orthodontics, the company established its Weldmatic Division in 1950 to develop resistance welding equipment for the rapidly expanding electronics and aerospace industries. Over the following decades, continued investment in engineering, patented technologies, and strategic acquisitions expanded the company’s capabilities into laser welding, laser cutting, marking, micromachining, hot bar soldering, hermetic sealing, and advanced automation systems.
Today, AMADA WELD TECH is a global leader in precision joining, laser processing, and manufacturing solutions. As part of the AMADA Group, we combine more than 75 years of engineering innovation with deep application expertise to help manufacturers solve complex production challenges across the medical, battery, electronics, aerospace, automotive, and industrial markets.
