Sales Engineering Manager This highly important and key role within our company leads a team of engineers to support our customer’s fundamental understanding of our equipment, applications, and manufacturing process. The sales engineering manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of our technical center in Monrovia and for coordinating and growing: • Incoming customer samples and visits to the lab in Monrovia • Training for equipment and application – on-site and at customer sites • Paid application work for extended studies The range of technologies includes resistance welding, hot bar bonding, hermetic sealing, micro TIG, laser marking, and laser welding. The Sales Engineering Manager also provides technical support to our sales team and customers to identify equipment and solutions, and helps to provide quotations for this equipment. This includes the preparation and delivery of technical information about our products and technologies for specific customers as well as technical marketing of the application laboratory and its technologies. This exciting position is a cross between business (sales and marketing) and engineering aspects within a technical company, and is well suited for those interested to grow in either or both of those areas. Salary Range:$120k – $135kResponsibilities:Manage the day-to-day operations of the Monrovia Technical Center: • Coordinate application sample schedule to meet customer expectations • Review incoming application samples and paperwork to determine technical suitability • Manage lab resources to minimize sample turnaround times and optimize work flow • Manage and schedule paid work activities • Schedule and host customer lab visits • Manage lab expenses to stay within the approved budget • Ensure safe lab working conditions and team is trained in safety protocols • Other projects and tasks as assigned by the company from time to time Provide technical support for sales team and customers: • Provide phone, email, and webinar based technical support to sales managers, company representatives, customers, and other departments • Support annual sales meetings with laboratory workshops and presentations • Develop and present power point presentations for internal and external training purposes • Work with system engineers to help with machine design concepts for specific applications • Train customers and staff on equipment operation and process development Provide technical support for marketing team: • Develop and present webinars on various technical subjects including process fundamentals, use and application of equipment, process troubleshooting, and DOE’s • Produce and participate in company videos on applications and other technical subjects • Write technical articles and blogs around our technologies • Provide technical information for social media posts – highlighting lab capabilities, training options, and paid application work • Attend domestic tradeshows and work the booth Applications: • Occasional completion of various welding and soldering applications and writing detailed reports of results including recommended suitable equipment for the customers to use for their applications • Occasional performance of customer equipment buyoffs to prove system will process parts to customer satisfaction Education, Experience, & Skills:• BS in Electrical Engineering or other engineering degree preferred • 5 years management experience in a technical company • Experience in application laboratories a plus • US Citizen to handle ITAR projects • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills • Good interpersonal skills to interact with multiple levels of people in an organization (operator to CEO) • Strong time management skills and ability to multitask • Excellent computer skills and demonstrated ability in PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Experience with Salesforce CRM a plus. • Good listening skills and note taking ability (demonstrating accuracy and memory of details) • Easily absorb technical knowledge and ability to memorize the technical performance specifications of the product line • Positive attitude towards satisfying customer requirements Requirements:Job location: • This position is required to be on-site to manage team, facility, and equipment. Travel: • Occasional travel to customer facilities (provide training classes, installation and set-up of equipment, or carry out process development) • Travel to tradeshows and sales meetings • Travel level 10-15% (mostly domestic, some international)
